Miracle Soap Ingredients
“Jude’s Herbal Home Remedies” Miracle Soap?
I purchased the book “Jude’s Herbal Home Remedies” and was looking through it when I came across the miracle soap. It seems like it would be good, but has anyone made it? Did it work good, and was it worth while? Also, could you tell me where you got the ingredients for it?
I think this is the recipe in this g00gle book preview:

The oils You Can find in supermarkets and just buy the cheapest as you don't need posh stuff for soap. Coconut oil might be difficult to locate if you depend on supermarkets. For coconut oil: you can try Asian stores as I have bought it from one before and it was quite cheap and you don't need posh stuff for soap. Lye crystals might be difficult to locate but you could try a hobby shop or a local hardware store that might stock them or if not might be able to get hold of them for you. Be sure to tell them what you want it for too. Be careful around lye as it is caustic.
edit:
Do a lot of reading on soap making before you being as I read this on wikipedia under the sub-heading cold process:
"A cold-process soapmaker first looks up the saponification value of the fats being used on a saponification chart, which is then used to calculate the appropriate amount of lye. Excess unreacted lye in the soap will result in a very high pH and can burn or irritate skin. Not enough lye, and the soap is greasy. Most soap makers formulate their recipes with a 4-10% discount of lye so that all of the lye is reacted and that excess fat is left for skin conditioning benefits." .... quoted verbatim.

Be careful and do the research so you do not end up with something that will burn your skin. Test the soap with pH strips first to be sure it is not of a too high pH that might burn. Perfect the recipe until you get the pH right. Ideally soaps these days if to be used for bathing should have a near neutral pH as that is what is kinder to the skin...some shop bought soaps may fall under this category [dove baby for instance may be pretty much neutral pH] but most are perhaps a little too alkaline for the skin.
end of edit…
Hope that helps.
